I was born and bred in Southampton, and from a very early age I was fascinated by water and ships – I spent many a happy afternoon just sitting on the pier watching the cargo ships and ocean going liners coming and going.
I like to think of myself as a “Water Baby”.
Now, even more, one of my great passions is capturing ships and boats of all types, shapes and sizes; and while I’m at it, watching the sun rise or set – Mother Nature paints such a wonderfully beautiful spectacle, and then lets you photograph it – for free.
Away from the water, another passion is architecture and the almost endless picture possibilities this subject offers, in particular reflections from the many glass sided buildings that surround us.
I have a very eclectic collection of photos, I like to let my mind wander and if I can get an unusual shot, angle or view point, then I’ll take that picture, regardless of the subject.
This means that some of my pictures can be somewhat abstract, only catching part of the building/ship/landscape for example, but the part I find most interesting – it feels so liberating to be different.
